“Triptych View”

Location: Coit Tower, San Francisco (2018)

From left to right: Salesforce Tower, Transamerica Pyramid, 555 California Street.

As I was about to head down from the top of Coit Tower, a friendly docent eyeing my camera stopped me and asked had I taken a photograph where the window was open – to which I replied I had not.

He then encouraged me to take a look and to notice how each of the three prominent skyscrapers slotted perfectly in each window frame.
(He thought that was a wonderful composition and I couldn’t have agreed more. )

What was more, the docent added, the windows in the tower are rarely open.

(A photographic opportunity!)

It was late morning in late October when the sky was free of fog and clouds.
