“Secret Beach (O’ahu)”

Location: Marine Corps Base Hawaii (2020)

From the protected waters of Secret Beach, the islands Kekepa and Mokoli’i (Chinaman’s Hat) are visible against the backdrop of Kualoa Point.

After having photographed at Pyramid Rock Beach (see “Pyramid Surf”), my friend and his wife graciously shared with me Secret Beach.

I was told Secret Beach was hands down where the best snorkeling was. But we didn’t have the time to snorkel during my visit.

Finding a composition that I thought could show off the beauty of this secluded section of Hawaii’s most populated island was more challenging than at Pyramid Rock Beach with its lighthouse.

Eyeing the islands off into the distant, I used the volcanic rocks close to the shoreline to lead the eye toward those islands.

I can only imagine what beauty lies below these waters. Waters free from the constant visitation of tourists.

The beauty above the azure water only hints at the unimaginable beauty below.
