“A Different Time”

Location: Pullman, Washington (2021)

An abandoned farmhouse sits idly in a field off Whitman Road on the outskirts of Pullman, Washington.

One of the more iconic farmhouses in the vicinity, it has been photographed numerous times. So much so, that the place is covered with “No Trespassing” signs. (In order to preserve the vintage charm of the place, I had to remove them in Photoshop.)

Known commonly as the “Old Weber Farmhouse”, I tried imagining when the place was last occupied. My mind thought of the 1930s. Like a scene out of the Wizard of Oz before Dorothy and Toto are whisked away by the tornado.

Even the sky that day was overcast and foreboding. But this area, being in the Palouse, is full of hills – not pancake flat like Kansas. There would be no tornado. Nor Wicked Witch of the West.
