“Stepping Stones”

Location: McPhillips Beach, Oregon (2019)

Exposed stone at McPhillips Beach direct the eye toward Haystack Rock of Pacific City.

These stones, believe it or not, can become completely buried by sand within a year.

I’ve tried coming back to this exact same location just 5 months later to recreate this photograph under different conditions.

But they were nowhere to be found.

Walking around in circles, the stones remained hidden under the sand.

Had I imagined things?

“Stepping Stones” was captured during the winter and so I suspect that another winter will reveal them once more. It reminds me of how quickly things can change:

‘Here today, gone tomorrow’.

That’s life isn’t it?
