“Prized Possession”

Location: Pacific City, Oregon (2020)

A juvenile gull shows off a starfish clutched in its beak at Pacific City.

This cute little guy totally photobombed my composition as I tried capturing the pinkish early morning light glowing in the clouds.

I had seen him coming…

As cute as he was, I saw how he acquired his ‘prized possession’.

While chasing another gull through the air, our bird knocked the starfish out from its previous owner.

Cartwheeling through the air, the starfish plopped onto the ground in front of the camera.
