“Old Spiral Highway”

Location: Lewiston, Idaho (2019)

Photographed from the side of the road looking down toward North Lewiston, Idaho, the Old Spiral Highway winds its way past fields of green from recent rains.

This highway is as curvy as it is spiral in appearance. Driving along this road was a treat and one I took from top to bottom as I made my way from Pullman, Washington to Buffalo Eddy Nez Perce National Historic Park in Asotin, Washington where I photographed “Buffalo Eddy”.

The recent rains made the landscape green, but the clouds eliminated any shadows, making this an opportunistic moment to capture the undulating highway also known as “The Old Lewiston Grade”.
