“Hidden Falls”

Location: Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming (2019)

Fueled by melting snow and ice, Hidden Falls in Grand Tetons National Park is at its grandest.

In order to access the falls at this opportune time requires hiking through some snow and ice. (This photograph is from mid-May.)

Once you reach the location, you have to be prepared to guard your camera lens from the spray coming from the waterfall – wiping the lens between each photo.

Thankfully overcast skies from an approaching thunderstorm (!) softened the light and eliminated any strong shadows and highlights.

Wait. Did I say an approaching thunderstorm?

Oh yes, that was no joke. How I made it back to my car without being caught in the storm is another story all in its own.

I wonder why it’s called Hidden Falls…
