“Wizard’s Light”

Location: Crater Lake National Park, Oregon (2020)

Photographed on a winter morning near the Rim Village, Wizard Island’s presence dominates this section of Crater Lake National Park.

(Sometimes when you visit a location, arguably the best views are the most accessible.)

That was fortunately true here.

Unprepared to snowshoe and camp along the 36 miles that circumnavigates the crater rim, I focused on this one composition near the Rim Village and returned throughout the day to observe and photograph the changing light.

Clear days are perfect for such observations and this day was no exception.

Notice how the light creates different moods for each of the photographs in the “Wizard’s Light” series.
