“Dory Dog”

Location: Pacific City, Oregon (2019)

A dory fisherman at Pacific City gets ready as his faithful companion waits in the pickup truck.

The soft pastel colors in this photograph are from before sunrise in what is known as “blue hour”.

Blue hour is one of my favorite times to photograph. One of the reasons being the lack of people. But as I found this morning, fishermen like blue hour as well.

(Well, maybe they prefer the tide more than the light – blue hour and sunset coincided with the low tide.)

I was completely prepared and ready to take this picture without the fisherman. His presence was a photobomb.

Light can change quickly – more quickly than this fisherman was moving. So, I had to just go with the moment.

There was no other choice.

And that’s okay.
