“Autumn Reflections”

Location: Vernonia, Oregon (2019)

Autumn colors make a particularly strong showing along the lake waters in Vernonia, Oregon.

After having a successful day photographing autumn colors in the Portland Japanese Garden (See “Autumn Monarch” and “Gnarled Glory”), I made my way west about hour to Vernonia where I had ridden my bike about a month prior along the Banks-Vernonia Bike Trail.

During my bike ride, I noticed that the City Lake Park looked like a promising location for fall colors, but I was more interested in a nearby building abandon by the lake’s edge that contained a big leaf maple inside its graffitied interior.

Online, I noticed that it had the potential to be a very interesting photograph. But unfortunately, I had arrived far too late for that idea because only a handful of leaves were left.

Walking back to my car undeterred, I noticed the maroon colored trees along the lake’s edge. And the yellow leaves next to them were in full color, too.

My efforts to come to this place had definitely not been in vain.
