“Catching Light”

Sunlight breaks through the clouds and illuminates the fishing pier during sunrise on a May morning at Deerfield Beach, Florida.

You know, there’s something spectacular about a Florida sunrise.

Perhaps it’s the warm humid air full of large cumulus clouds that hang over the calm tropical sea.

Or maybe it’s the opportunity to see the colors come to life: purples, blues, oranges, and reds. The sun’s rays bring forth a new day.

As I waited for the sun to break through the clouds, fishermen at the end of the pier were casting their lines in hopes of catching fish.

When the sun’s rays were finally released from behind the clouds, they caught the edge of the pier with golden light.

The fishermen at that moment were catching light instead of fish.
