“Kiwanda Glow”

Location: Pacific City, Oregon (2019)

The sun’s warm rays shine brightly off the coast of Pacific City with Haystack Rock outlined in light.

By placing the sun just out of frame, the photograph has a warm glow to it despite being shot during the middle of winter.

Conditions were calm that day and I waited for a wave to break and the spray to catch the light.

Photographed along the edge of the parking lot, there were many beachgoers.
• People walking joyfully over the cool sand with their shoes in hand.
• Beer enthusiasts socializing over a pint from beachside Pelican Brew Pub.
• Children chasing one another with youthful glee.
(There was even a beachcomber with a metal detector!)

Yes, this was an evening when time meant nothing but the passing of the sun.
