“Clearing Break”

Location: Pacific City, Oregon (2019)

After a storm filled day on the Oregon coast, clouds begin to clear as the sun begins to set.

This evening promised to be a disappointment – too many clouds on the horizon.

Earlier, it was difficult to tell what would transpire, but by coming to the beach with an open mind, I was prepared.

Having just come down from the always fun and large sand dune nearby, I noticed the reflection on the beach. It was mirrorlike and free of any disturbances from foot and dog prints.

It was mesmerizing. I stood there, appreciating the beauty. And through the reflection I could see that the clouds were beginning to clear.

They swirled and spread apart just enough for the hint of the sun to show.
