“Tidal Shift (BW)”

Location: Cape Kiwanda, Oregon (2019)

The tide changes direction as a wave washes ashore in the tide pools of Cape Kiwanda.

Working my way from the end of the tide pools I walked backwards and looked for compositions that featured Haystack Rock.

Keeping in mind that I was working within a tide pool, I waited for a wave to come close enough to fill the space between the mollusk covered rock on the left and the line of rocks to the right.

These tidepools have always held a special place to me. Throughout my whole life I have explored them. They change with each season.

This way or that way, when the tide shifts, it’s time to go.
