“Eden”

Location: Hood River, Oregon (2021)

Mid-spring in the Hood River Valley of Oregon gives rise to acres of blooming pear orchards as Washington’s, Mt. Adams, glistens with snow.

This photograph had been planned since the previous autumn when I had driven through the rolling hills of orchards that make up the valley. Spring is when this area is at its most beautiful due to the abundance of pear blossoms.

The white blossoms work well with the snow-capped stratovolcano and the smooth shape of the hills mimic the rounded shape of the volcano.

Timing my trip to this location took a bit of luck but the combination of blossoms with a brilliant blue sunny day makes for a photograph that feels like a scene out of some pastoral haven.
